ADIDAS ARCHIVE: SOCCER
Women’s Predator cleats are the modern-day product of decades in the soccer footwear game. Adi Dassler released the first Samba in 1950 as a traction-soled soccer shoe to help players train on frozen ground. For the 1954 FIFA World Cup™, the German national team wore a studded variation of the Samba and beat the “unbeatable” Hungarians in the final match. With that, adidas PHcame a household name in the sport, positioning Samba as a footwear favorite for generations of indoor soccer players and style creators to come. In 1970 we made the first official match ball of the World Cup, the adidas Telstar, which introduced the now-iconic black and white panel design. adidas has gone on to supply the match ball for every Men’s World Cup since then and every Women’s World Cup since 1999. With every piece we introduce—from the very first Samba in 1950, to the revolutionary adidas x Parley jerseys in 2016, made using Parley Ocean Plastic™, to the women’s Predator cleats of today—adidas pushes innovation to provide the highest quality gear to soccer creators at all levels around the world.
