Move for the planet - activating change
In 2023, we introduced Move for the Planet in partnership with pledge-based charitable movement, Common Goal. Our collaborative efforts mark a significant step forward in our sustainability efforts as we empower the adidas Runners community to create change through movement.
Through the joint efforts of the global adidas Runners community, we saw a plethora of incredible events taking place across the globe, providing each and every member the tools and knowledge they can utilise as part of their everyday activities:
adidas Runners Cairo: Wadi Degla Protectorate clean-up
In Cairo, the adidas Runners community hosted a 90-min clean-up event in which 150 participants received gloves and bags. In total, they were able to collect a staggering 200 bags of rubbish. During the activity, our Runners were educated on the importance of environmental protection through signs posted along the trail.

The power of recycled plastics was also demonstrated with special gifts made from recycled waste which were available for all participants.
adidas Runners Tel Aviv: Art festival & eco boost workshops
In Tel Aviv, together with adidas Runners Hasharon and Halasartan, we saw a reusable art and music event with over 100 participants celebrating Move for the Planet. The event featured a reusable art exhibition and sound healing session hosted by a climate activist.
adidas Runners New York: DIY upcycling & clothing donations
Community members in New York came together and engaged with local artists to host an upcycling event.

Participants were invited to bring their old adidas clothing and customise it with airbrushing, embroidery, vinyl and other DIY activities. Clothing donations were also collected for charitable gifting to communities in Bolivia.
adidas Runners Singapore: Obstacle course & reusable crafts
Placing movement at the forefront, adidas Runners in Singapore hosted an exhilarating obstacle course experience followed by a DIY craft session using recycled plastics, followed by an educational workshop providing key tools and information surrounding the benefits of taking collective action.
2024 marks the second year of Move for the Planet. As an adidas Runners member, you have the chance to get up and get involved through the adidas Running app.

Can’t get to your nearest community activation? Here are few ways you can bring sustainability into your daily routine:

1. Make sure to bring a reusable water bottle on all your runs, it’s important to stay hydrated!

2. We all need an additional bit of energy on our runs, and energy gels are great for this. If you’re bringing a couple of gels on your run, keep the sachet with you until you get home.

3. Explore how you can make your running equipment more sustainable with recycled garments. You can find some of our favourites here.

4. Keep your running route clean! Why not utilize your run as an opportunity clear your mind and clear the path?

5. If you can, keep it local. Stick to local runs that don’t require a fuelled vehicle.
